ADOPT A PET

4th of July Festivities & Your Pet
 |
While your 4th of July Festivities may be full of family fun, it's best to keep our furry friends indoors and away from the activity.
Here are some tips for a safe & pet-friendly holiday weekend:
- Keep your pets indoors -- especially once the fireworks are ready to begin. Each year after the fireworks have ended, we receive calls from lots of frantic owners looking for pets that ran away or jumped fences after being spooked by the loud noise.
|
- Be fire-smart. Keep pets away from campfires, fireworks, citronella candles, matches, and lighter fluid. If ingested, they can be deadly and pet fur can easily catch fire.
- Stick to pet food for your four-legged friends and keep the picnic fare for party-goers of the two-legged variety. Scraps from the grills, Aunt Mabel's potato salad, and those yummy s'mores can all cause serious digestive upset in your furry friend.
- Keep your pet "on the wagon". Be sure that alcoholic beverages are out of reach of your pet... they can be poisonous to your pet.

Paws to Consider
Save a Life - Be a Foster Parent!
| Wanderers' Rest Humane Association is actively recruiting volunteers to become foster families for our many cats and kittens. Foster parents are families or individuals that are willing to offer their home on a temporary basis to animals in need. Foster care is most frequently needed for kittens that are too young to be adopted, or nursing mothers and their young. It doesn`t take a lot of time or money, just a little extra room and a little extra love to give our most needy guests a second chance. Give the gift of life - Become a WRHA Foster Family. You can download a printable version of the foster parent application here. Call 697-2796 for more information. |
